Artist's Comments

Here's another thing from my sketchbook. This is Queen Ree from Disney Fairies. I really love the Disney Fairies books. : )

The lines from this drawing, I actually found in a coloring book I have. I've been doing a lot of stuff lately where I look at images that I really like, and then try to draw that image myself. I seem to be pretty good at it, but I find it a bit discouraging because I really want to be able to move on and start drawing my own characters, you know what I mean? So if anybody knows how I can take the step between redrawing images that already exist and drawing my own images from my head, please let me know. Does it just come with time or what?

: O That looks pretty cool.

As for drawing original characters, or original stuff morelike...I'd say you first think of what you want to draw, then a feeling of how you want it to be like.

That's how I usually draw, hopefully it helps you. : >

Thanks. I'll try to do that and see what I can come up with.

I had the same problem.

To move on to your own characters, I find a character or two and mix and match bodies, face shapes, and facial features until on looks right (stick with book poses until you feel you can do your own). That's how I did it.

PS: I love her from the books! She's so pretty!

That's a good idea. I think I'll try that for awhile and see how it goes. Thank you.
